Hawkes Refrigeration Engineers is the data controller for personal information collected through www.refrigeration-uk.com. We are based at 2-6 Gibcracks, Basildon, Essex SS14 1PE, United Kingdom.

Our contact form asks for your name, email address, phone number and business name, along with the message you write and the type of enquiry you select. All of those are needed to answer you.

Alongside your message we record the page you sent it from, the website that referred you, any campaign tags in the address you arrived through, your browser's user-agent string and your IP address. We keep those to understand where genuine enquiries come from and to identify automated submissions.

We use this information to respond to you, to quote for work, and to keep a record of the enquiry. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — answering a request you have made of us. If the enquiry becomes a job, we keep the record as part of our normal business and accounting documentation.

We do not send marketing emails from enquiries submitted through this website, and we do not sell, rent or trade your information to anyone.

We record which pages are viewed so we can see what people find useful. For each visit we store a randomly generated identifier, the pages viewed, how long a visit lasted, the type of device and browser, the site that referred you, any campaign tags in the address, and your IP address. The identifier is a random value — it is not linked to your name unless you separately send us an enquiry.

This identifier is stored in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie. Clearing your browsing data removes it, and your next visit is counted as a new one.

We also use Google Analytics. It is configured so that it may not store analytics or advertising identifiers on your device unless consent is given, and advertising features and personalisation are switched off entirely.

We use a small number of suppliers who process information on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions:

• Vercel — hosts this website and serves its pages.
• Supabase — provides the database where enquiries and site statistics are stored.
• Google — provides Google Analytics.

Some of these suppliers operate outside the United Kingdom. Where information is transferred abroad it is protected by the safeguards those suppliers put in place, such as the UK addendum to the standard contractual clauses.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

We keep enquiries for as long as we may need them for the relationship they relate to, and for as long afterwards as our legal and accounting obligations require. Site statistics are kept in a form that is not linked to a named individual.

If you would like your enquiry deleted sooner, ask us and we will remove it unless we are required to keep it.

Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you raised it with us first so we can put it right.

This site links to other websites, including manufacturers and trade bodies. Once you follow a link away from here, this policy no longer applies — those sites have their own, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.
